To the selfish cocksmack who saw fit to set fire to my apartment building tonight.

Fuck you buddy. Like I don't get little enough sleep as is without you starting a fire at 2:30 in the morning which makes me leave my place in a panic wondering if i'm ever going to see any of my stuff again and hoping like hell I have the correct fire insurance.

Augh.

ANyhow, it's like 4:30 and they finally let us back in. I'm going to bed.

Not that anyone really reads this all that often....

But i've moved again, back into Edmonton this time novusphoto was nice enough to let me live with his family for the last month or so which was great but the commute was ugly.

Needless to say i'm enjoying my extra 2 hrs of sleep per night :)

I've been doing a lot of shopping lately as well, I hadn't realized just how much stuff in the condo wasn't mine till I sat down on the floor in my new apartment and looked around going "I have no stuff?!?" I'm much better now though, new TV, living room tables, bed and couch. yay :) The people at Ikea love me.

Anyhow, i'm up way too late and should really be studying for my A+ Exam which is on Tuesday. Passed my TCT cert last week though, which is cool.
Ta ta!

Moving, Blah.

Have I mentioned yet that I hate moving?

Cause I do.

It's sucky.

Anyhow, possession date on the condo is the 30th so I need to have all my stuff out and the place cleaned up by midnight Friday morning. Needless to say I've got a lot left to do. I just hate packing SO much.

Ah well. At least I'll make a few bucks in the process :)

And I'm off to deal with boxes and junk.

*glee*

Looking up.

Lots of stuff still up in the air but all in all it's looking up.

House sold within 5 hours of being listed, we stand to walk away with a tidy profit each, enough to pay off some bills, buy some toys and put a down payment on a new place so that's good at least.

After much talking with J we've realized that this was a long time coming and it's not as 'out of the blue' as it seemed at first, long story short: We've grown apart and it's time to move on. So it's much more of an amicable split than it was at first glance.

Job stuff is still up in the air, i've got an offer from a local company but i'm not sure if I even want to stay in Edmonton or not. Whether that means back to Calgary or elsewhere I don't know yet. Time will tell and i'll let everyone know :)

So anyhow, i'm fine and things are going ok.

Oh yeah, one other thing. To the scum bastards that stole $500 out of my bank account after cloning my bank card: Fuck You. I got the money back and I hope you go to jail. Ugh, what a nightmare that was. I really don't know if I can trust bank cards at all anymore. At least if i'm carrying cash no one can steal it by doing some technical goofyness. Ah well, it was all moving money anyhow so it's more or less pre-spent anyhow.

I'm out :)

A review I found online of "300"

This made me laugh. While I appreciated the historical aspects a tiny bit better than the author of the below review many of his points are valid :)

Enjoy.

> ...and thought I would share a review about the movie that I found posted on
> > the net. Great flick!!
> >
> > I just saw a movie that'll give your eyes boners, make your balls scream and
> > make you poop DVD copies of THE TRANSPORTER. It's called 300. I don't know
> > what the title has to do with the movie, but they could've called it KITTENS
> > MAKING CANDLES and it'd still rule.
> >
> > It's about these 300 Greek dudes who stomp the sugar-coated shit out of like
> > a million other dudes. I have a feeling that a lot of high school sports
> > coaches are going to show this film to their teams before they play. Also,
> > gay dudes and divorced women are going to use screen captures for computer
> > wallpaper.
> >
> > The movie takes place about a million years ago, and it's sort of like a
> > prequel to SIN CITY. Except way less guns and cars but twice as much skull
> > splitting. If you watch this movie and go into a Taco Bell, and say to the
> > cashier, "I need some extra sauce packets" guess what? You're getting twenty
> > sauce packets because your face will punch him in the brain.
> >
> > I can't spoil the plot because THANK GOD THERE ISN'T ONE. Just ass kicking
> > that kicks ass that, while said ass is getting kicked, is kicking yet more
> > ass that's hitting someone's balls with a hammer made of ice but the ice is
> > frozen whiskey.
> >
> > TWO COOL THINGS ABOUT THE MOVIE AND ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE:
> >
> > COOL THING ONE:
> > HEAVY METAL DURING BATTLE SCENES
> >
> > Who gives a shit if the music isn't historically correct? LORD OF THE RINGS
> > could've used some Journey. This movie has that chu-CHUNG kind of metal that
> > you hear in your head when your shift supervisor at Wetzel's Pretzel is
> > telling you that you'll have to stay for clean up and you wish you had a
> > sock filled with quarters in your hand.
> >
> > COOL THING TWO:
> > FOES, MINI-BOSSES AND A BIG BOSS
> >
> > Basically, the Greek dudes are fighting these Persian dudes, but the
> > director, who must have a dick made of three machine guns, does it all like
> > a video game. The Greeks fight every death metal video from the last ten
> > years. There's wave after wave of giants, freaks, ninjas, mutants, wizards,
> > and a hunchback who looks like he's got Rosie O'Donnell on his back.
> >
> > Would I have been happy if Dom DeLuise from HISTORY OF THE WORLD, PART I had
> > shown up? Maybe, but this movie more than makes up for that glaring
> > oversight.
> >
> > NOT SO GOOD THING:
> > DUDE NUDITY ("DUDE-ITY")
> >
> > These are Greek times, when there were a lot of naked women around. And
> > there are some naked women in this film, but almost every naked woman scene
> > has a muscular dude giving the screen an ass picnic. Dude-ity is something
> > directors put in their movies so people will think they're serious, I guess,
> > and not just throwing in naked hotties.
> >
> > Any directors reading this - IT'S OKAY TO JUST THROW IN NAKED HOTTIES.
> >
> > Can't someone make a movie about naked Amazons and call it PAUSE BUTTON?
> >
> > My final analysis is 300 the most ass-ruling movie I've seen this year, and
> > will probably be the King of 2007 unless someone makes a movie where a pair
> > of sentient boobs fights a werewolf.

Ugh.

Not feeling well today.

It's been a pretty crappy winter for getting sick. I had Strep throat back in October, a bad sinus infection at the end of January and i've been feeling crappy pretty much ever since. The antibiotics that I was taking for the sinus infection did ugly things to my digestive system, i'll spare you the gory details but it was 10 days of not fun.

Anyhow, I'll be headed to the doctor today when J gets home from work. She's been sick as well the last few days, but with something other than what I have I think. Heh, happy valentine's day to us.. we'll be spending the night going to bed early and trying to get lots of sleep. Very romantic I know :)

Well i'm off to bed, gonna catnap for a while after filling myself full of meds. Wish me luck.

Yes yes, I know I never post and that makes me the most pathetic blogger ever. Honestly it's mostly because I have way less angst than I used to :) I sleep ok most of the time, and life is generally good and happy. I know, *barf* but it's true.

Anyhoo, might have some exciting news on the horizon but I can't really say anything about it till I know for sure.. the walls have ears. So does corn I understand. Hopefully i'll be able to spill by this time next week.

Picked up a new GPS to replace my aging eTrex Legend that i've been using for years, got a Garmin Venture Cx. Does the whole autorouting thing I was so jealous of over my buddie's 60 series Garmin. AND it's got a microSD slot so finally i'm not limited to 8mb of maps :) I threw a 1GB card in it and put to topo maps for western Canada on it. Very cool.

I need to get out and take some pictures as well, i've done so much less of that than I meant to this last year. Mike is t3h l4zy sometimes. Shocking, I know. Well, that's about it for now. More.... eventually :)

I know it's been forever since i've posted and I suck.. but well... that's life :)

Been busy with work and all that lately and with Christmas coming, well I have little free time.

AND, what little time I do have is being taken up by reptile related issues... if you have a ton of free time and really want to know you can read about it here:

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90966&page=1&pp=40

Aside from that? I bought an iPod the other day... it's pretty cool actually and having the ability to take all my tunes with me is nice. Having to pick and choose what would fit on a 256mb flash card was starting to suck. I also decided it was new laptop time.. and since work has a nice payment plan option I went for it. My current laptop is showing it's age rather dramatically so it's time to be put out to pasture I think... or relegated to 'kitchen/living room' computer which is more or less already where it is...

Hope everyone is doing well, I know i've been sort of out of touch lately... with any luck at my yearly review in about 6 months i'll be getting a big raise so I can quit the second job... ah. to only work 40 hours a week. Heaven!

Ciao!

Ooooooooooooook.

I Am A: Chaotic Good Elf Ranger Thief

Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Secondary Class:
Thieves are the most roguish of the classes. They are sneaky and nimble-fingered, and have skills with traps and locks. While not all use these skills for burglary, that is a common occupation of this class.

Deity:
Solonor Thelandria is the Chaotic Good elven god of archery and the hunt. He is also known as the Keen Eye, the Great Archer, and the Forest Hunter. His followers respect nature, and only hunt when needed, but are quick to defend the forest from intruders. Their favorite weapon is the bow, and they tend to be extremely talented with it. Solonor Thelandria's symbol is an arrow with green fletchings.

Find out What D&D Character Are You?, courtesy ofNeppyMan (e-mail)

Back to work!

Well that was a pretty good weekend!
novusphoto and I took a run down to Drumheller Sunday night to take pics of Hoodoos. Some of mine turned out pretty well. On the way back we saw the first really good Aurora Borealis show of the year, took a ton of pics and I found out my kit lens is buggered on my camera. When taking pics of bright stuff in low light situations I get these odd concentric rings in the center of my lense when shooting at 18mm. So I guess I need to send it off to Canon and get it fixed or replaced. Bugger.

Then on Monday we took pics from all over the area around Wetaskawin and I managed to try to kill myself on a barbed wire fence. Cut my leg up pretty good but all in all it was a really great way to spend the weekend. After waiting a painfully long time to upload my pics to my laptop and then even longer to process the RAW shots I decided that a new laptop is definitely something I need. My probation at the University is up in November so I think i'll be checking out a macbook pro for photo work since I can get it on a payroll deduction and toss on an iPod as well :)

Got my server back up and running after it got hacked in August so i'll be able to post pics again right away, just need to find the time to process the RAW files, edit the TIFFs and then do the web galleries. Heh. So it'll be a bit. But I think I got a few pretty good shots this weekend... time will tell.

Well let's see....

Honestly nothing of great interest going on at the moment, i've managed to pick up the flu after our camping trip to Banff last weekend and I feel like a truckload of used assholes.

On the plus side I did get a few good pictures while we were out there. I'll have to post a few once I get them uploaded to the server. I've been pretty lax about that lately but I have been taking pics!

In other news I now have a decent telephoto lens thanks to novusphoto

Anyhoo.. Let dog out, surf the net and watch some TV.
4:30am back to bed
5am finally drift off to sleep.
7am Alarm goes off.

*cries*

This has been how it's going the last week or so, usually not THAT bad, but it's typically been after 2am that i've been able to get to sleep which is starting to worry me considering my previous issues with sleep problems. I'm hoping tonight will be a 9pm out like a light night, because honestly, I could use the sleep. I'm not feelin so good today.

That is all.

New Job

Well I have to say i'm loving the new job.

While 'helpdesk' is still part of my job it's a small part and I spend as much time out of the office working as I do in it. I've already met many very interesting people and it's been great. I was pretty nervous about leaving IBM for a position that I didn't know a whole lot about but i'm finally using all the hardware/software skills i've developed on my own for years that were more or less wasted working in a helpdesk only environment.

Get the impression yet that I love my new job??? :)

Not much else to tell at the moment. Brian's wedding is fast approaching and I need to get down to Calgary this weekend to get fitted for a tux, I think i'll hit the zoo as well and snap a few hundred photos.

Have a good one!

As of May 10th i'll no longer be employed by IBM, i'm going to be at the University from now on doing desktop support.

It's a mixed thing at this point though, I interviewed for the job at the Uni 2 months-ish ago when stuff with my current manager was shall we say.... 'strained' and I was happy to be looking elsewhere. More recently some stuff went down at work (which even a month later they STILL aren't talking about) but i'm pretty sure said manager got fired, though there has yet to be an official announcement to that effect yet but she hasn't been at work for like a month.

Anyhow, her boss, one of the line managers took over her position and it turns out he's a really great manager, listens to his people and lets us figure out how to do the stuff he wants done so long as it gets done. That, and he's the type who looks at the team and figures out who's taking up space and who's doing all the actual work. So i've been doing a lot of side projects and such lately. Then last Tuesday my phone rings. It's the university and they want me to do that deskop job I interviewed for way back when. Since i've been looking to do Desktop for about 7 years now I accepted, it's a slightly shorter work week, pay is about the same hourly and it's a monday - friday during business hours gig. Which means no more working at 6am or earlier and no weekends. YAY!

It was harder to give my notice than I thought it would be though, the new manager turned out to be a really good guy and I think me leaving sort of puts him and the rest of the team in a crappy spot. But it's not an opportunity I can really afford to pass up for the chance at "future possibilities" at IBM. Anyhow, that's what has been going on lately. Ta!

So we got Tika fixed yesterday... fixed as in she's no longer got the ability to make little puppies as cute as she was :)

I have to say, my vet is an artist. The incision and stiches are so clean you can't even see them from more than a couple feet away and that's only because she's shaved in the area. I will be quite surprised if she's got a scar at all when all is said and done. Mill Creek Veterinary Hospital if anyone cares. Dr. Lewis Barton. They're a bit on the expensive side but the care is absolutley top notch and i'll recommend them to anyone.

She was pretty pathetic when we brought her home and slept almost all evening and through the night but as of about 9am this morning she's all ready to play and what not... which is going to suck because 1: She's a Lab... and they're high energy to begin with. and 2: She can't be a dog for the next 7-10 days while she's healing... by this time next week she's going to be going batfuck crazy with boredom i'm sure. So at that point it'll be poor us but ah well. That's life with a dog dog :)

Just about the funniest fucking thing i've seen in forever... Make sure you watch the Kevin Federline video first.

Kevin Pereira is my new hero. He's such a sarcastic ass it just makes watching Attack of the Show an enjoyable daily experience ;)

The original clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7Ys46KA4xw&search=federline

The K.P. spoof
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KTMKKTmHSg

Bwhahahahahahahaah!
